Artisan Production Grade A: Mechanical at Free State Department of Community,Safety Roads and Transport

REQUIREMENTS :

• A minimum of Grade 10 or equivalent. A valid driver's license. An appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) in Diesel Mechanical. Experience in vehicle, heavy vehicle, construction plant, earthmoving equipment or related mechanical maintenance environments will be an added advantage.
• Applicants are required to be able to perform duties at workshops, districts and field/operational sites. A post-matric qualification will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge and Skills: Technical analysis and fault finding; vehicle, plant and equipment maintenance; diesel, mechanical, basic electrical and hydraulic systems; maintenance and repair practices; technical and legal compliance; technical report writing; computer-aided technical applications; problem solving; decision making; teamwork; communication; computer skills; planning and organising. 

DUTIES :

• Inspect, diagnose, service, maintain, repair and test vehicles, plant and equipment in accordance with prescribed standards and schedules. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and provide breakdown and field support where required.
• Ensure quality of completed work; maintain job cards, maintenance records and registers; compile relevant reports and provide inputs into operational planning.
• Ensure the safe use of tools and equipment and compliance with applicable technical and safety requirements. Supervise and mentor support personnel where required and maintain technical expertise through continuous development.
