Assistant Artisan (Facilities Maintenance) at Govan Mbeki Municipality

Requirements:

• Grade 10
• Basic Literacy
• Relevant experience in facilities, building, or civil maintenance will be an added advantage
• Basic knowledge of building and civil maintenance activities
• Code EB drivers’ license
• Ability to use hand tools and basic maintenance equipment
• Willingness to work outdoors and perform physical work
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• The successful applicant / candidate must possess competencies as published in Annexure A of the Local Government: Municipal
• Staff Regulations promulgated in Government Gazette 45181 of 20 September 2021

Key Performance Areas:

• Assisting with routine and preventative maintenance of municipal buildings and facilities.
• Supporting minor civil works, including repairs to walls, floors, pavements, drainage, doors, windows, and related infrastructure.
• Assisting with plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling, and basic building maintenance tasks.
• Conducting basic inspections of facilities and reporting defects or maintenance requirements.
• Assisting with the loading, unloading, and handling of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations at all times.
• Maintaining cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment.
• Performing general maintenance duties as instructed by the Supervisor / Foreman
