    Assistant Manager: Financial Services Risk Management

    Business Consulting, Financial Services Risk Management- Assistant Manager, Johannesburg

    The Financial Services industry is experiencing significant change, in terms of technology advancements, changing customer demographics and increased regulatory scrutiny.

    The opportunity 

    The work we do isn’t about providing ‘off-the shelf’ solutions; so, we will train and coach you to develop a set of core consulting skills that will be transferable across a broad range of projects. You’ll work as part of high-performing teams on a broad range of financial services clients and assignments that will stretch and challenge you. You’ll be encouraged and expected to take accountability and make an impact.

    Your key responsibilities 

    The scope of the work that you can expect to be involved in will include supporting our clients across a range of risk-related topics, such as Governance, Regulatory Compliance and Conduct Risk. You can expect to be working on client assignments across the industries we serve - banking, insurance, and wealth and asset management. You'll actively establish internal and external relationships and identify and escalate potential business opportunities for Ernst & Young within existing engagements.

     

    Skills and attributes for success

    • Legal academic and/or risk background or demonstrated affinity would be an advantage

    • Previous experience of exposure to regulatory requirements across pan-African jurisdictions would be an advantage

    • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills

    • Complex problem-solving capabilities

    An interest in continuous self-development 

     

    To qualify for the role, you must have:

    • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of work experience in a conduct-related risk/ compliance management role within financial services, either in an industry line function and/or consulting capacity

    • An understanding of how conduct regulation affects people, processes and systems of a financial services organisation

    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the asset management, insurance and/or banking sector

    • Proficiency with MS Office

    • Additional experience based in the Pension Fund Act, Collective Investment Schemes Act and Financial Markets Act and related regulation would be an advantage

     

    Ideally, you’ll also have 

    • Ability to understand and adapt to changing regulatory and legislative requirements
