Ensure that all import documentation is accurately completed, including invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and any required customs forms.
Interpret and apply customs regulations and tariffs to ensure compliance with local and international laws, avoiding penalties or delays in the clearing process.
Coordinate with customs brokers to facilitate the customs clearance process, ensuring that all necessary clearances are obtained in a timely manner.
Responsible for the correct classification of goods according to tariff codes and appropriate valuation for duty calculations, ensuring submissions to customs are accurate.
Act as the primary point of contact between the company and customs authorities, responding to inquiries and requests for additional information as necessary.
Assess and mitigate any risks associated with imports, including identifying potential customs issues or disputes and developing strategies to address them.
Maintain accurate records of all import transactions, customs documents, and communications, ensuring compliance with record retention policies.
Prepare reports on customs activities, duties paid, and any discrepancies or issues encountered during the customs process, and participate in audits as required.
Provide training and guidance to staff on customs compliance practices and procedures, keeping the team updated on changes in legislation and best practices.
Resolve any issues that arise during the customs clearance process, including delays, audits, or disputes, working closely with relevant stakeholders to find solutions.
Identify opportunities for process improvement in the customs clearance procedures, implementing best practices to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
2 - 4 years of experience in import planning, logistics, or supply chain management.
Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs compliance requirements.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and supply chain management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
