    Assurecloud Senior Chemistry Analyst, Midrand

    Key Responsibilities

    Laboratory Operations & Testing

    • Conduct chemical analyses using wet chemistry and advanced instrumentation (GC-MS, GC-FID, HPLC, IC, UV-VIS, TOC Analysers and other chromatographic systems).
    • Prepare and analyse samples according to authorised methods, SOPs, and ISO 17025 standards.
    • Perform verification, correlation, interpretation, and reporting of analytical results.
    • Participate in method development, method validation, and implementation of new technologies.
    • Participate in proficiency testing and ensure technical accuracy across all analytical outputs.

    Quality, Compliance & Safety

    • Maintain compliance with SANAS ISO/IEC 17025 and perform duties as a Technical Signatory.
    • Conduct internal audits, contribute to investigations of non-conformances and support CAR closure.
    • Follow health and safety procedures, including MSDS interpretation, PPE usage, and safe waste disposal.
    • Maintain full adherence to laboratory quality, safety, and environmental policies.

    Work Area & Equipment Management

    • Maintain a clean, compliant, and well-organised workspace.
    • Ensure appropriate handling, receiving, storage, and traceability of samples to protect integrity.
    • Monitor stock levels, reagents, and consumables, including expiry dates and storage conditions.
    • Conduct equipment verification and ensure readiness of laboratory instruments.

    Reporting & Client Interaction

    • Compile analytical reports/certificates of analysis and submit results to the approving signatory.
    • Manage client testing requirements, quotations, sample registration and outsourcing where applicable.
    • Assist with customer complaint investigations by providing technical input.

    Staff Leadership & Workflow Management

    • Supervise, mentor, and train laboratory staff.
    • Plan and manage daily workflow to optimise turnaround times.
    • Monitor staff performance, adherence to procedures, and overall quality of outputs.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Support laboratory projects and tasks assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
    • Assist with EHS duties or additional operational responsibilities when required.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Food Technology, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry.
    • SANAS Technical Signatory status (required).

    Experience

    • 5–10 years laboratory experience in a chemistry-focused environment.
    • Strong experience with wet chemistry and instrumental techniques (GC-MS, GC-FID, HPLC, IC, UV-VIS, TOC).
    • Demonstrated experience working under ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation
