The Boys’ College invites applications for the abovementioned position which will be available from 01 January 2024. Applicants should be suitably qualified and experienced with energy, integrity and vision.
Requirements
The requirements of the position are:
A BMus degree is a prerequisite
A PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
Previous experience in teaching subject Music up to Gr 12 according to the IEB syllabus
The ability to play and teach your first instrument up to a Grade 8 level according to one of the IEB accredited examination boards
Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills
An interest and ability to incorporate technology in the classroom and for administrative tasks
A commitment to a busy department including a variety of different musical events
A flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the College
A sound and progressive understanding of the South African curriculum and international trends in education
A commitment to on-going personal and professional development
An awareness of the nature of the school and willingness to commit to its all-round ethos, co-curricular activities and pastoral approach
An ability to work within the values, Christian ethos and mission of the College as well as a willingness to participate in the broader life of the school as well as an understanding of the value of extra-mural participation for both staff and learners
