    Receptionist / Office Administrator - JHB North

    Description

    Your talent and positive mental attitude mean you are able to deliver on the following responsibilities:

    • Efficient operation of the frontline reception for the Henning Block and providing professional, prompt, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable service
    • Taking of messages and dealing with general queries from staff, parents, students and service providers
    • Administrative duties including filing (paper-based and electronic),
    • receiving/sending emails; sorting and distributing internal mail, accepting deliveries, organising meetings, taking of minutes and any other ad hoc requests which impact the effective functioning of the Finance department
    • Ownership of the credit enquiry process for prospective families and the correct application of College policies and procedures for the credit enquiry outcome
    • Assist with Parent portal queries
    • Debtors-related administrative duties
    • Capturing purchase orders and invoices on the eProcurement system
    • Performing secretarial functions for Deputy Head and Finance Management team, including diary management, scheduling meetings, booking of rooms/venues
    • Management of support staff

    Requirements

    • Matric or equivalent
    • 3-5 years’ experience in reception and office administration, preferably within a customer service environment along with previous experience in data capturing and document storage solutions
    • Solid computer literacy with a sound knowledge of Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel specifically
    • Strong communication and inter-personal skills along with excellent telephone etiquette
    • Interacting with parents, staff and the broader Saints community intelligently and respectfully, ensuring high levels of diplomacy and tact
    • Ability to prioritise, multi-task and work under pressure
    • A confident individual who can use their own initiative, is responsible and can take charge of difficult situations
    • Customer service orientation
    • Initiative and problem-solving abilities
    • Punctuality, honesty and reliability are essential
    • Ability to work independently and without supervision
    • A positive credit history
    • Any staff member working within a school is required to have a sexual offender’s clearance certificate
    • A willingness to work within the values, Christian ethos and mission of the College as well as participation in the broader life of the school

    BC Head of Subject Music - JHB North

    Description

    • The Boys’ College invites applications for the abovementioned position which will be available from 01 January 2024. Applicants should be suitably qualified and experienced with energy, integrity and vision.

    Requirements

    The requirements of the position are:

    • A BMus degree is a prerequisite
    • A PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
    • Previous experience in teaching subject Music up to Gr 12 according to the IEB syllabus
    • The ability to play and teach your first instrument up to a Grade 8 level according to one of the IEB accredited examination boards
    • Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills
    • An interest and ability to incorporate technology in the classroom and for administrative tasks
    • A commitment to a busy department including a variety of different musical events

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • Proven performance of coaching and mentoring student athletes; including experience in the pastoral space.
    • Relevant sport related qualifications (FISA Level 1/2 and First Aid desirable).
    • Ability to manage practices and work outside normal hours and/or weekends.
    • Conflict management skills (written and verbal).
    • Proven ability to work with diverse teams and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
