    BIM Manager - Civil Specialist Manager

    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Civil Specialist to be based anywhere AECOM has an office within the West Region. This position will be supporting a team based in the Pacific Time Zone.

    • AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a creative and highly motivated Associate Civil Design Manager specializing in grading and earthwork design for immediate employment. This is a technical role working with engineers and project managers on a variety of projects within the Dams, Mining and Water Resources markets.

    Job Summary/Responsibilities

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Extensive experience with Autodesk Civil 3D through release 2023, with an emphasis on complex and advanced multi-layered and surface modeling capabilities.
    • Ability to take general and limited direction and simple sketches from engineers to then develop design criteria and progress through all stages of design.
    • Dams – Grading design and surface modeling for earth-fill, rockfill, conventional concrete and RCC embankments, quarries, spillways, outlet works, foundations and drains.
    • Mining- Grading design, surface modeling and site development for tailing storage facilities, embankments, seepage ponds, utility corridors, waste rock piles, buttresses, ring dikes, underdrains, closure plans, and instrumentation and monitoring.
    • Civil/Site- Site development, access roads, drainage channels, jurisdictional and non-jurisdictional dams, slope stabilization, retaining walls, detention ponds, land development, surface drainage, stream restoration and pipe/structure.
    • Prepare detailed calculation packages for earthwork quantities, reservoir storage capacity, and tailing storage.
    • Ability to process a variety of data sources to build existing base surfaces from LiDAR, survey points, breaklines, DEMs, and contours.
    • Detailed understanding of coordinate systems and the ability to transform data from one system to another.
    • Data management of survey and client data through the project life cycle.
    • Meeting with clients for project kickoff, ongoing design review, and project close out.
    • Works under limited supervision.
    • Exchanging project data with multiple consultants through local and virtual servers.
    • Generating and maintaining 3D federated models for clash detection, generating reports to demonstrate coordination progress and clash mitigation.
    • Understanding and proactively implementing the required LOD, and CoBie data at each of the project stages, as per project-specific requirements.
    • Developing periodic training sessions for the design team and other stakeholders.
    • Creating, enforcing, updating, and implementing project-specific and practice-wide BIM standards and execution manuals, including both internal and external management of design teams.
    • Work closely with the design team reporting requirements and agreements from BIM Coordination meetings.
    • CADD project coordination and verification reviews.
    • Mentoring other CAD production staff.
    • Training and supervising workflow and seminars.
    • Updating internal protocols within the organization.
    • Visual rendering and sequencing output using Infraworks, Navisworks, Enscape or other tools.
    • Performs both routine and non-routine, complex design assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations.
    • Field and survey experience a plus Generating labor estimates and authoring contract scope documents.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or eight (8) years of relevant experience demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

    Preferred Experience:

    • Fifteen (15) + years of relevant experience
    • Twelve (12) + years of Civil3D experience in large scale/complex multidisciplinary projects
    • Proficient with these software programs Civil3D, BIM360/ACC, Dynamo, ProjectWise, Microsoft Excel, Google Earth, Navisworks, InfraWorks, Vehicle Tracking, ReCap ESRI GIS, Blue Marble Global Mapper or other GIS application.
    • Strong technical progression within civil engineering and design.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards.
    • Some experience with these software programs a plus:MicroStation, OpenRoads, OpenGround, GeoPak and Revit.
    • The individual should have excellent leadership and communication skills
    • Excellent demonstrable civil modeling ability on large scale/complex multidisciplinary projects
    • As well as BIM/CIM manager duties, the individual would also be expected to work as a production designer and contributor to AECOM Digital innovations team.
