Grade 12 plus Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Nature Conservation or relevant qualifications as recognized by SAQA.
Minimum 6 years’ experience in general conservation/environmental law enforcement field. Experience in the implementation of investigations (covert and overt), CITES and detective work as well as the successful completion of Environmental Management Inspectorate (EMI) training/ Designated EMI will be an added advantage. Valid driver’s license.
Duties :
Application of the provincial Nature Conservation legislation, National Environmental Biodiversity Management Act (NEMBA), TOPS, CITES regulations and National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), doing biodiversity investigations (covert and overt investigations), promoting pro-active compliance monitoring and law enforcement within Gauteng Province, performance reporting (monthly, quarterly & annually). Co-operative Governance Planning to ensure the successful completion of investigations, administrative duties related to investigations, to ensure a proper prepared docket for the Prosecutors, Issue admission of guilty fines (J534) at times to ensure that transgressors do not continue with less serious crimes. Attend court cases where necessary to ensure that the Prosecuting Authority is able to prove the guiltiness of the transgressor beyond reasonable doubt and the sentencing is fair and just.
