    Business Developer

    Business Developer 

    An exciting opportunity is available for a Business Developer to join our team based in Cape Town. The purpose of this position is to provide support and assistance to the Business Development team as well as to identify new business opportunities and manage partner relationships to enhance and develop the business. The Business Developer reports directly to the Business Development Manager -Africa.

    This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Business Development team by carrying out administrative tasks on their behalf. They are required to identify and develop strategic and legally viable new business opportunities and analyse the viability of potential future partnerships. The Business Developer is also responsible for ensuring all contacts, and agreements are in place, as well as managing and maintaining the relationship with new and existing partners. Internal Liaison takes place across all internal departments. External liaison takes place with partners and external clients.

    Duties and Responsibilities (include but is not limited to):

    • To manage new partner relations in order to build effective and sustainable relationships
    • Create and maintain a view of the organisational structure of Partners – key players/positions and contact details, relationships between players, as well as levels of influence and decision-making
    • Manage issues that may arise with partners in a timeous and professional manner, escalating issues to Manager when required
    • Understand the competitive landscape in each country, informing Manager of potential opportunities and material developments
    • To effectively manage the relationships with existing partners (including Mozambique, Lesotho, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Nigeria)
    • Coordinate and manage partner request (Example: Due Diligence renewal, API upgrade, CB request- BOPCUS)
    • Maintain current knowledge of trends, changes, and competitor actions that might affect our customers
    • Identify potential business opportunities from current partners as well as upselling any other of products and services
    • To develop new business opportunities to expand the company
    • Conduct market analysis and negotiate new partnerships
    • Prepare all documentation and presentations required for the meetings
    • Liaise with Licensing and Compliance department in order to obtain required licenses
    • Identify and analyse competitors, and conduct monthly (as well as ad hoc) pricing tests
    • To carry out project management functions efficiently
    • To communicate effectively between internal business functions and external clients
    • To manage own professional and self-development

    Key Requirements:

    • Grade 12 / or equivalent (Essential)
    • Tertiary qualification in any business-related field (Essential)
    • 1 years’ experience in a Business Development or account management role (Essential)
    • Experience in developing business in African countries other than South Africa (Desirable) In a financial industry (Desirable)
    • Knowledge of payments and remittances
    • Knowledge of account management
    • Knowledge of business to-business sales and proposal writing
    • Knowledge of contracts and commercial agreements
    • Knowledge of operating license requirements
