    Business Development Manager

    Job Description    

    • Actively market and sell the Commodity, Bakery, and Meat Ingredients to current and new customers in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
    • Customer base growth and increase market share in relevant portfolios
    • Analyse market insights gathered by sales teams to determine market potential
    • Identify and roll-out new products in Bakery and Meat portfolios
    • Knowledge transfer and technical training of all sales and technical staff
    • Management of product introduction, new product development, customer satisfaction and centricity
    • Negotiation of supply agreements in both local and international markets
    • Supplier & product management of Bakery and Meat ingredients
    • Responsible for budgets and forecasts as well as driving project pipelines
    • Manage working capital in Bakery and Meat portfolios
    • Manage sales targets in Bakery and Meat portfolios
    • Multi-level relationships at key customers and regular visits
    • Provides timely reports and information as required by management
    • Maintenance of all Zero Harm principles across areas of responsibility

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • BSC / NDip Food Science / Food Technology Qualification (or relevant to Food & Beverage)
    • Commercial qualification will be an added advantage
    • Minimum 8-10 years’ sales experience in the food and beverage industry
    • Product / business management experience in the food industry essential
    • Deep understanding of principal management, sales and business development
    • Proven track record in delivering sustainable value in large projects
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Strong report writing skills
    • Technical skills
    • Strong selling and negotiation skills (Customer centric)
    • Strong financial modelling skills
    • Syspro or SAP experience would be an advantage.

    • Self-managed and demonstrate initiative.
