A vacancy exists for a Catering Assistant based at Life Groenkloof Hospital reporting to the Catering Manager. The successful candidate will contribute to the effective functioning of the department and be part of the dynamic team that is continuously striving for the highest standards of quality.
Critical Outputs
Clean and sanitize all pots, pans, utensils, and crockery in line with hygiene standards.
Sanitize dishwashing machines, equipment, and sinks after each shift.
Maintain scullery floors, walls, and surfaces in a clean, grease-free state.
Follow proper waste segregation procedures (food, recyclables, general waste).
Ensure timely disposal of waste to prevent odours, contamination, and pests.
Comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Conduct routine cleaning and basic checks of dishwashing machines and related equipment.
Monitor and clean drains and grease traps regularly.
Report equipment faults or malfunctions promptly to supervisors.
Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
Support kitchen efficiency through rapid turnaround of clean kitchenware.
Store cleaned items neatly in designated areas.
Coordinate with kitchen staff to address priority cleaning needs.
Adhere to occupational health and safety practices, including PPE usage.
Assist kitchen staff and participate in deep-cleaning activities when required.
Requirements
Grade 12
Be able to work shifts
At least 2 years’ experience in catering services in any hospital will be an advantage
Industry experience in cleaning will be an advantage
