Chef / Kitchen Manager - Somerset West at Helderberg Personnel

Position Criteria:

• Previous experience as a Chef | Kitchen Manager
• Culinary accreditation will be an advantage
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a managerial role
• Current knowledge of cooking trends and best practices
• Knowledge of computer software program (Pilot)
• Communication and leadership skills
• Capable of delegating multiple tasks
• Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently and timelessly
• Ability to work under pressure
• A very high level of attention to detail
• Weekend work
• Own reliable transport

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
• Menus: modify or create new menus that meet quality and standards
• Calculation and controlling of food and labour costs
• Assist with equipment purchases and repairs
• Recruit and manage kitchen staff
• Rectify problems or complaints in kitchen or about menu items
• Give prepared plated meals the “final touch”
• Perform administrative duties
• Timekeeping and payroll record management
• Management of health and safety protocols and procedures
• Efficient stock controls
• Create and maintain a positive and professional approach with employees and customers
