Chief Financial Officer

A Technology Services Business, based in Midrand Gauteng, is searching for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to act as a strategic advisor to the CEO. Your focus will be to play an active leadership role in building a profitable and sustainable business.

In this position, you will be expected to apply critical thinking and strong financial acumen to the long-term goals of the business. The role requires a strong operationally focused individual that can combine the operational functions to the commercial and financial strategies.

Roles and Responsibilities

Leadership

• As a member of the senior leadership team, bring extensive financial expertise to company-wide decisions
• Develop, implement, and continually assess all processes and technology requirements within the finance team
• Implement effective reporting systems and data presentation to ensure effective automation and an optimized data strategy

Strategy

• Build world-class Management Information (MI) and Business Intelligence (BI) processes for company performance and investor information where the right metrics are continuously updated and reported to the relevant teams/individuals
• Analyze and expand the company’s subscription metrics capabilities to regularly track performance and intelligently adapt strategic/financial decisions
• Develop industry-specific and company-specific SaaS metrics that better align behaviour with customer value and link the business planning cycle to developing better capabilities.

Financial Management

• Lead the reporting and analysis of financial results, and develop strategic and tactical recommendations for the business
• Develop financial business plans and forecasts, develop and monitor budgets, and lead financial and tax strategies
• Build cross-border financial capabilities
• Lead all aspects of risk management, working closely with the company’s general counsel
• Achieve new efficiencies for our clients so that all clients can confidently and seamlessly buy from and work with the company
• Decide on cash investment strategies considering ongoing liquidity needs
• Build a system for evaluating ROI for all aspects of the company’s operations to actively guide decision-making on projects/investments, and enable continuous focus on the activities that yield the highest return

Ideal Candidate

• Qualified CA (SA) with ±10 years of experience post articles
• 7+ years’ experience in a high-ranking financial position, preferably leading a finance team in a complex business
• Experience in the technology industry is preferred with a strong understanding of tech / SaaS products and services
