    Chief Mechanical Technician

    Short Description / Purpose of Job

    To provide technical support to Maintenance Managers and Engineers by applying technical skills and making suggestions and independently implement solution to optimise systems.

     

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

    • Optimises and control resources effectively.
    • Demonstrate safety consciousness at all times.
    • Achieve safety and risk objectives.
    • Ensures that self and team meet targets, due dates and quality standards.
    • Enable production operations and make appropriate adjustments to deliver agreed volumes at optimal productivity and cost in time.
    • Ensure that work standards are met according to quality standards & compliance.
    • Ensure that personal development plan is completed, implemented and tracked.
    • Update performance goals and performance agreement regularly.
    • Agree and review personal performance goals and the achievement thereof.
    • Ensure work is completed as planned.
    • Work towards plans, targets and report on own work.
    • Review compliance and follow up against the standards and objectives.
    • Adheres to standard procedures and practices with guidance.
    • Resolve work obstacles and issues positively and quickly.
    • Learn to use problem solving and decision-making methodology.
    • Build customer relationships in order to understand their needs.
    • Develop effective relationships with customers.
    • Demonstrate effective listening and communication skills when dealing with colleagues.
    • Project a positive image of the department.
    • Develop healthy and constructive communication with team and colleagues.
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers and peers.
    • Develop effective manager and peer working relationships.

    • Problem solving/ investigations to understand the functional failures modes and root causes of breakdowns.
    • Conduct technical review of equipment and develop maintenance strategies.
    • Implementation of maintenance improvement initiatives.

    Formal Education

    • Post School Tertiary Diploma (South Africa / Eurasia)

    Min Experience

    • 11+ relevant years
