Key Responsibility Areas

• Determines the needs of the clusters and units within the Municipality with regards to 
• Occupational Health Nursing and First Aid aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety Service.
• Supervises and controls activities of subordinate staff.
• Oversees emergency preparedness and disaster management.
• Participates in finance management activities within the section.
• Ensures that the required standards of nursing practice is maintained and updated.
• Assists with report compilation for the section.
• Oversees asset and inventory management at the regional clinics.
• Ensures compliance with clinic permit legislation.
• Provides input in clinic staff management decision.
• Plans and implements Occupational Health projects.
• Responsible for the overall control of medicines and management of drugs.
• Performs clinical functions on a limited scale.

Essential Requirements

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in General Nursing.
• Certificate or Degree (NQF Level 7) in Occupational Health Nursing.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a General Nurse.
• Dispensing Course Certificate.
• Certificate in Audiometry.
• Certificate in Spirometry.
• Registration of Occupational Health as an additional qualification with the South African Nursing Council.
• Valid Basic Life Support Certificate.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license.
• 5 Years relevant post graduate experience in Occupational Health Nursing.

Preferred Requirements

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in General Nursing.
• Certificate or Degree (NQF Level 7) in Occupational Health Nursing.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a General Nurse
• Dispensing Course Certificate.
• Certificate in Audiometry. Certificate in Spirometry.
• Registration of Occupational Health as an additional qualification with the South African Nursing Council.
• Valid Basic Life Support Certificate.
• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Health Sciences Management or Nursing Administration.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license.
• 6 years relevant post graduate Occupational Health Nursing experience of which 2 years must have been in a supervisory capacity in the Occupational Health Environment.
