    Claims Accounts Authoriser

    Job Description
    Applications are invited for a Claims Accounts Authoriser in Head Office. Reporting to the Head Office Claims Manager, the overall objective of the position is to investigate, analyse, and accurately authorise claims payments in terms of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act and FEM’s standard operating procedures.

    The successful candidate will be assessing and authorising various medical accounts, wages, banking details and permanent disability awards as well as monitor financial performance which includes cost containment, over servicing, duplicate payments, and refunds. Furthermore, they will provide service excellence by ensuring claims turnaround times are met and participate in discussions about medical impairment assessments.

    • The minimum requirements of the position are a B degree in Nursing or equivalent. Active registration with the relevant professional body is a pre-requisite for this position. The position requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years prior work experience in a clinical or multi-disciplinary life and disability claims environment and 2 to 3 years’ experience in Occupational/ICU/ Orthopedic and/or Theatre Technique Nursing.
    • Further requirements are a good understanding of the risk management processes, experience in auditing of medical accounts; good organisational, decision-making, and analytical abilities coupled with the ability to work independently, good computer skills, good literacy and numerical ability.
    • Knowledge of the COID Act and workman's compensation will be a distinct advantage. Excellent performance track record, excellent customer focus, the ability to work in a highly pressurised environment, quality orientation, reliability and excellent communication abilities complete our requirements.
    • We have offices regionally in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg.  This position can work from any of our regional offices.
