    Clinical Educator: Dermatology

    Requirements:

    •  Health Sciences related qualification NQF 8
    • Appropriate registration with the relevant regulatory authority (HPCSA/SANC)
    • 3 years' experience in a Dermatology clinical setting
    • Computer literacy (Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint, email and internet)
    • Fluency in English, and Afrikaans or isiXhosa
    • Good interpersonal, communication and management skills
    • Keen interest in research and community outreach programmes
    • Interest as a learning facilitator and teacher.

    Advantageous

    • MBChB degree

    Responsibilities

    The Clinical Educator will be required to:

    • Be part of the ward team in phototherapy, topical skin and wound care, as well as patch testing
    • Use above skills to provide practical training to 5th year undergraduate medical students
    • Provide co-supervision to 4th and 5th year undergraduate medical students during their Special Study Modules
    • Provide primary dermatology teaching: 3rd to 6th medical students and registrars
    • Provide tutoring to Dermatology nurses (and occasionally to Allied Health professionals)
    • Coordinate the Dermatology Nursing short course (and diploma when re-instated)
    • Coordinate the Community dermatology outreach program
    • Offer teaching and research assistance for collaborative research projects within the division
    • Travel to community clinics in the Cape Town area when teaching is required
    • Participate in divisional academic activities that improve teaching, learning and research
    • Independent travel to and between respective learning sites.
