    Clinical Medical Manager, Serious Chronic Disease

    The Position

    As a Clinical Medical Manager, you will facilitate the execution of clinical trials related to New Therapy Areas (including Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), Nephrology, Hepatology and Alzheimer’s disease) by providing medical/scientific expertise and advice based on interactions with KOLs, independent professional associations, and patient advocacy associations as necessary. This is a field position, you are expected to travel all over South Africa, min. 80% of your working time.

    Your main responsibilities will be:

    • Identify and map KOLs, investigators, and research centres within the relevant therapy areas and collaborate closely with clinical operations teams during the feasibility and allocation process.
    • Collect and discuss relevant early development data with external medical and scientific experts optimizing the feasibility process for the clinical trial conduct and regularly engage with the clinical experts in relevant TAs to obtain guidance relevant to clinical trial execution.
    • Contribute to delivering successful clinical trials (phase I-IV) in collaboration with clinical operations including driving scientific discussions at site selection and initiation visits, performing ad hoc visits, ensuring KOL inclusion in clinical trials, and engaging key investigators to convey trial results.
    • Provide timely medical guidance and internal training by helping in content creation and delivering training to clinical staff.
    • Engage in extensive scientific communication internally as well as externally and excellent and proactive communications skills are a necessity. Strong presentation skills are a must. 

    Qualifications

    • Medical Degree / Bachelor of Medicine.
    • Minimum 3 years of clinical or pharmaceutical industry experience with clinical research background would be considered as an advantage.
    • Good understanding of pharmaceutical drug development processes and relevant experience as clinical trial investigator, or sub-investigator is preferred.
    • Expert in the therapeutic area of relevance, preferably with authorship in peer-reviewed journals.
    • Knowledge of the specificities and nuances of the local healthcare infrastructure.
    • Valid driving licence and willingess to travel.
