Job Description

• As a Cloud Backup & Storage Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust cloud-based backup and storage solutions. Your role involves ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and scalability within cloud environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deploy efficient storage systems and implement backup and recovery strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Storage Design and Implementation:

• Design and implement cloud storage architectures based on organizational requirements.
• Configure and manage storage solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Backup and Recovery Strategies:

• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies for cloud-based environments.
• Ensure data consistency, integrity, and availability during backup and restoration processes.

Data Lifecycle Management:

• Implement data lifecycle management practices, including archival and deletion policies.
• Optimize storage solutions for cost-effectiveness and performance.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement security measures to protect stored data, addressing compliance requirements.
• Monitor and address security vulnerabilities related to cloud storage systems.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and application developers to ensure seamless integration of storage solutions.
• Provide technical support and guidance on storage-related matters.

Capacity Planning:

• Conduct capacity planning to anticipate storage requirements and ensure scalability.
• Recommend and implement storage upgrades and expansions.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

• Monitor storage performance and optimize configurations for efficiency.
• Implement solutions to enhance data retrieval speed and reduce latency.

Documentation:

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for storage configurations, backup procedures, and recovery processes.
• Conduct training sessions for team members on storage best practices.

Requirements

• Degree (NQF level 7) in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, Informatics, or Engineering. AND Certification as Cloud Practitioner – Professional with AWS & Azure Certification in other cloud platforms will be an added advantage
•  5 + years’ experience as a certified advanced backup & storage specialist
