    Co-ordinator: Fundraising & Development - (1627)

    • Fundraising and Donor Relations secures and manages private philanthropic donations from individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations. We engage donors on academic, research and other institutional needs that align with the donors funding priorities. By putting donors at the centre of the process, we are able to excel in learning, teaching, research and community development whilst making an impact on South Africa and beyond.  

    The successful incumbent will be responsible for: 

    • Meeting large income targets 
    • Maintaining excellent stewardship by being the main contact person for donors and ensuring timeous reporting
    • Identifying new donors and re-activating lapsed donors as well as identifying new income sources for UWC 
    • Annually increase the donor base by building strong relationships with new donors 
    • Work closely with Faculty staff to identify projects of interest to donors as well as develop appropriate cases for support for fundraising activities
    • Stay informed of fundraising good practice and legislation, ensuring compliance with UWC and other relevant government policies (e.g. POPIA) to demonstrate good governance to the donor community

    Minimum Requirements

    Minimum Requirements (Qualification and Experience)

    • An appropriate bachelor’s degree at an NQF level 7 or an equivalent qualification 
    • 5 years’ fundraising experience working within the Higher Education sector or
    • 7 years’ experience as a fundraiser within the NGO sector
    • Evidence of your ability to raise large donations through your own effort 

    Required competencies (skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes): 

    • Demonstrate self-confidence, resilience, adaptability, honesty and integrity.
    • Excellent writing and communication skills. 
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
    • Self-starter who is self-motivated and is target driven
    • Willingness to travel
