    Collateral Manager

    To facilitate and enable business strategy by translating it into business plans and operating capabilities and managing the delivery thereof.

    Responsibilities:

    •  Drive a culture of awareness focused on process efficiency, automation, results orientation and operational risk
    • Partner with Front Office, Operational Risk and Compliance functions to ensure daily processes and procedures are aligned.
    • Reinforce and raise awareness of trading minimum standards through training.
    • Identify and track the operational risks; escalate to the appropriate reporting level.
    • Understand the mandate of the desks being supported.

    Deliver on key strategic initiatives:

    • Support key projects within own area and the Bank.
    • Drive innovation and process efficiency within the Bank
    • Support new platforms, products and relevant relationships within the Bank.
    • Effective system implementation and automation within deadlines.

    Stakeholder relationship management:

    • Build and maintain professional working relationships with all stakeholders, displaying excellent abilities to initiate dialogue, listen, advise, influence and negotiate to achieve win-win outcomes.
    • Initiate meetings with key stakeholders to track progress, manage expectations and ensure stakeholders’ requirements are delivered.
    • Preserves relationships despite airing conflicting views and seeks mutual gains when addressing conflicts.
    • Anticipates consequences and adapts problem solving based on continual feedback.
    • Act speedily to resolve problems, queries and complaints.
    • Adapt communication styles to meet the needs of different audiences.

    Team leadership and management:

    • Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports, managing their performance in relation to quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives, focusing on all aspects of sound people management:

    • Ensure appropriate levels of management and accountability.
    • Motivate, delegate and empower appropriately, enabling direct reports to take responsibility and display appropriate creativity and initiative.
    • Work with the team to actively grow their skills and lead them in operational excellence.
    • Define performance contracts for staff members.
    • Monitor staff performance against agreed service levels and agreed performance contracts.
    • Run bi-weekly team meetings to ensure measurable and valuable feedback on daily operations and in line with agreed performance contracts

    Co-ordination of end-to-end collateral for CSA:

    • Liaise with Credit Analysts and Legal to ensure credit application conditions are met in terms of CSA (legal agreements) being signed and loaded onto relevant system.
    • Analyse exposures for specific clients and, as required, pay or receive margin calls.
    • Liaise with counterparties for payment settlement (margin).
    • Analyse MTM (Market to Market) differences in exposure and liaise with counterparties or Traders to resolve.
    • Keep abreast of market-related events concerning counterparties and, if client is in breach, escalate to relevant internal parties.
    • Liaise with internal and external auditors to provide relevant information and respond to any collateral concerns they may raise.

    Reporting, administration and process efficiencies:

    • Send monthly statements to clients.
    • Pay and receive interest on cash balances (monthly).
    • Identify process and system inefficiencies/issues and liaise with BT to take remedial action where required.
    • Perform formal and ad hoc administrative functions (e.g. matching of trades between counterparties and RMB, account reconciliations and day-to-day query resolution).
    • Complete and send out daily dispute report to Head of Collateral and Credit stakeholders to flag where clients have disputed margin calls.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Relevant Financial degree
    • Minimum NQF 6; BCom Degree or NQF Level 7 equivalent advantageous
    • Minimum 4-6 years’ experience in investment banking operations; 2 years experience in a supervisory role advantageous
