    Collections Manager

    About the job

    • Lead Capital group is looking for an experienced Collection Manager to head up their department. The successful candidate will need to maximize the company’s collections strategy. You will have the chance to implement changes to the department as you see fit to create a proficient and efficient department.

     

    What you will do:

    • Coordinate activities of staff members to ensure a smooth and efficient department maximizing collections efforts.
    • Oversee the collection of outstanding credit to minimize profit loss while ensuring it is handled appropriately and per company policy.
    • Create and implement strategies to increase the number of successful collections on outstanding debt.
    • Recruit, hire, train and evaluate staff members within the collections department to ensure a sufficient number of staff members are available to handle the workload.
    • Develop goals that complement the overarching business goals of the company and coordinate staff to continually meet and exceed goals.
    • Run reports and analyze data pertaining to the department and share with executive staff and managers of department staff as needed.
    • Communicate with clients to build and maintain a strong working relationship and reduce the number of clients who stop working with the company.
    • Implement credit policies and procedures that retain a smooth running of the department and avoid excessive credit limits.
    • Own & drive all elements of the execution of Collections strategies.
    • Responsible for meeting collections targets.
    • Collaborate with risk management in the development of optimum strategies.
    • Give input to the development of strategies and procedures.
    • Develop and implement operating plans in line with strategies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with operating plans and highlight operational risks & controls.
    • Ensure adherence to key policies and procedures approved by the Head of Operations.
    • Ensure regular audits of compliance to strategy, policies, and procedures.
    • Proactively share information and expertise with all affected departments
    • Continuously seek improvements in recovery processes, products, and technology.
    • Be an active member of the Management team.
    • Analyze information and optimally translate this into the improvement of performance Forecast and analyze data against targets on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
    • Compile ad hoc reports as and when required Stay abreast of market trends, relevant legislation, and events in appropriate industry forums
       

    What you need:

    • Proven experience in a Managerial role in the Collection environment
    • Knowledge of Contact Centre systems and processes
    • Knowledge and understanding of the National Credit Act and Debt Collectors Act
    • Relevant qualification
    • Excellent communication skills
