    Commodity Manager - Zululand

    Job Purpose

    • Reporting into the Procurement Category Head - Forestry, the successful incumbent will provide strategic procurement support to all purchasing activities within the Forestry Operations for Zululand and SQF operations.

    Qualifications & Expertise

    • Degree or Diploma in Procurement or Supply Chain field
    • CIPS registration will be advantageous
    • Valid South African drivers license

    Job Experience

    • 5 years’ experience as a Commodity Manager within a manufacturing or agricultural environment
    • Extensive Commercial Law / Contract Management experience
    • SAP Knowledge will be advantageous

    Key Performance Areas

    • Drive profit improvement initiatives and value creation
    • Supplier Relationship Management for all operational forestry activities
    • Active stakeholder engagement and strategic decision support
    • Contract drafting and administration.
    • Procure to pay governance and risk mitigation
    • Ensures efficient & timeous purchasing of goods and services across all Areas in the BU
    • Develop Area specific Procurement plans & analysis of Area / BU spend & supply market analysis
    • Carries out Tender processes, RFP's and Drafts Contracts working closely with Operations & Group Legal
    • Manages SAP purchasing process and system optimization through continuously reviewing & identifying improvements in our Procure 2 Pay system, e.g. Catalogue, Auto PO, FSM (Fixed services management), SBO (Service blanket orders) systems, in order to improve efficiency of the procurement.
    • Identifies and implements improvements to procurement processes, within the BU and/ across, through continued evaluation of Area procurement processes & challenges and conducting audits and assessment of controls, in order to mitigate potential risks to the company.
    • Conduct supplier evaluations & audits system rates benchmarks and /or industry rates benchmarks
    • Conduct rates negotiations and interrogates costing and conducts Rates reviews/approvals on Fortes System and works with operations to prepare Variation Amendments to contracts, when required
    • Prepares fleet management reports, Procurement Council Reports and related procurement actions as required by Business Unit Operational Management or Commercial Management.
    • Management of Ad hoc projects
