    Competence Development Manager

    The main purpose of the position: 

    Drive company values and philosophy and ensures all learning and development activities are strategically linked to the organization's mission and vision. To  support technical trainer to ensure that they have the relevant training material to support or operate a particular technology or related application, product or service.
    We are seeking an experienced Competence Development Manager to lead our organizational training efforts. In this role, you will be responsible for devising and implementing a comprehensive training strategy that aligns with our business objectives. Your primary focus will be identifying training needs, designing relevant programs, and assessing their impact on employee performance and loyalty. Successful candidates for this position typically have backgrounds in business, leadership, human resources, development, or education. Your responsibilities will include enhancing employee skills, improving performance, increasing productivity, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development throughout the organization.
    By overseeing our training initiatives, you will play a vital role in driving employee growth and ensuring the achievement of our business goals.

    Reporting: This role is based at the Volvo Group Southern Africa Pty. headquarters, and will report directly to the Director: People & Organisation of Volvo Group Southern Africa, or to the position that the company may appoint.
    This position requires travelling from time to time.

    Job Objectives:

    • Create and execute learning strategies and programs.
    • Evaluate individual and organizational development needs.
    • Implement various learning methods companywide (e.g. coaching, job-shadowing, online training).
    • Design and deliver e-learning courses, workshops and other trainings.
    • Assess the success of development plans and help employees make the most of learning opportunities.
    • Help managers develop their team members through career pathing.
    • Track budgets and ensure accurate reporting.
    • Identify and assess future and current training needs through job analysis, career paths, annual performance appraisals and consultation with line managers.
    • Conduct effective induction and orientation sessions.
    • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices.
    • Stay abreast of all legislative requirements and all SETA updates to ensure compliance and maximum organizational benefit.
    • Follow up on a formal learning program in the workplace to ensure transition of skills from the classroom to the workplace.
    • Ensure appropriate number of trainers with the relevant skills.
    • Develop a clear learning framework for promotions / succession planning.
    • Track & report on departmental training monthly.
    • Ensure all training rooms are fully equipped and ready for use at all times (Setup & Catering).
    • Manage / Host all external training providers to ensure quality delivery in line with the business needs.
    • Ensure that all learning (Formal & workplace) been capture in the Navigator System.
    • Ensure record keeping for all learning for BBBEE purposes and WSP.
    • Complete ATR & WSP and liaise with business on needs.
    • Liaise and support the Skills Facilitator Service Provider.
    • Attend and give feedback on skills development in the EE/Skills Development Committee.
    • Support with the apprentice programs.
    • Assist with Volvo compliance audits.

    Qualification & Job Experience:

    • Proven work experience as a Training Manager at least more than 8 Years.
    • Track record in designing and executing successful training programs.
    • BComm degree in education, human resources or relevant field.

    Key Competencies:

    • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc).
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
    • Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively.
    • Strong writing and record keeping ability for reports and training manuals.
    • Good computer and database skills.
    • Working knowledge in MS Office (especially Powerpoint).
    • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices.
    • Experience in project management and budgeting.

    • Excellent decision making and organizational skills.
    • Good time-management skills.
    • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
