Content Producer - NBA Africa at National Basketball Association (NBA)

Position Summary

The Content Producer will work with our Content Lead to produce locally relevant content across Africa. The successful applicant will be expected to produce content on a weekly basis and provide vital support in all facets of content creation, including researching, transcribing, archive searches and on location production. The Content Producer will assist in managing freelance production staff across the continent and support the production of key social and fan engagement content initiatives. They will also work in conjunction with the US-based International Programming team, Africa Social, Global Partnerships and Events to grow and engage our audience in the region and increase localized content consumption across all channels.

Major Responsibilities

• Produce a diverse range of content to engage fans across all owned and operated regional social channels
• Work with the Marketing team to create and manage content initiatives which engage the local fanbase as well as attract new fans
• Search across NBA archive systems for finished content and raw footage, maintaining NBA Africa’s video archive
• Work with the Events, PR, Basketball Operations and GP teams to create content solutions and produce field shoots around local events (Global Games, Academy games, Jr. NBA, BWB, grassroots, etc.)
• Conduct on-site interviews with high profile athletes as well as coaches, students and staff
• Provide regionally focused content solutions and advice for both internal and external departments and partners through use of the NBA Archives and content networks.

Required Skills/Knowledge

• Experience in producing high end features for digital or broadcast usage
• Advanced understanding of content creation, trends and metrics for social media output
• Advanced knowledge of production and post-production environments
• Demonstratable ability to accurately research and maintain production workflows
• Experience in producing multi-platform content solutions
• Proven track record of project management across multiple departments/stakeholders
• Highly responsive with strong communication skills and a meticulous eye for detail
• A creative mindset and a passion for basketball and content creation
• Strong interest and knowledge in NBA basketball and storytelling Preferred Skills
• Experience in producing long form content
• Experience working with high profile talent
• Basic/intermediate working knowledge of Premiere Pro and Photoshop
• Experience in developing creative content solutions for sports
• Understanding of social media platform usage and analytics
• Fluency in French Experience Needed

Educational Background

• 3-5 years of experience as a Producer across either social or broadcast
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience required
