    Contract Occupational Nurse

    To manage and provide a comprehensive, effective and sustainable occupational health programme, including pre – placement, periodic and exit medicals. To comply with all statutory requirements, company policies and procedures and to maintain statistical records.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure all pre-placement and exit medicals are done timeously and accurate records are kept on file
    • Screen employees for early signs of occupational disease by doing periodic medical
    • Identify hazardous areas and reduce the risk of illness, as well as identifying the cause of occupational illness, by doing medical surveillance programmes (e.g. audiometry ) and biological / environmental monitoring
    • Investigate into all accidents and incidents to ensure organization complies with the OSH Act
    • Manage disability cases and ensure full and proper communication with HR on an on-going basis
    • Update the LAC & HR Manager on progress of all disabilities, on a monthly basis by means of a disability report
    • Conduct hospital visits to all IOD cases
    • Diagnose and treat common ailments
    • Identify, treat and monitor chronic conditions
    • Control drugs and dispensary within the legal framework, including ordering and control of medical requirements
    • Assist in preventing and controlling absenteeism by examining and recording medical certificates and examining cases of prolonged absenteeism
    • Monitor and control Family Planning and communication
    • Assist in preventing and controlling absenteeism by examining and recording medical certificates
    • Familiarise yourself with at all times act in accordance with the company policies and procedures
    • Comply with GMP/GLP requirements as outlined by company SOP’s and written instructions in all tasks and activities
    • Carry out any duty or requirement imposed on the company by the OHS Act and in accordance with your specific SHE appointment

    Requirements:

    • Matric/Grade 12
    • Section Head: Health Care Cent
    • Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing
    • Certificate in audiometry, spirometry & pharmacology
    • Drivers Licence (Code 8)
    • Computer literate Excel / Word essential
    • Administrative skills
    • 2 – 5 relevant experience in an occupational health clinic
