    Contract Specialist - Cape Town

    Job Description

    • Our Cape Town team is led by a team of experts in , claims management and dispute resolution. With high performing business units in Western Cape.

    Scope of services:

    Specific competencies required

    • Expert knowledge of the family of New Engineering Contracts (NEC);
    • Extensive knowledge of the early warning and compensation event/ variation procedures;
    • Extensive working knowledge of the principles of design and construction projects;
    • Extensive working knowledge alternative dispute resolution processes;
    • A solid background in construction science, business management as well as related work experience within the construction industry; Extensive  working  knowledge  of  contracts,  plans,  specifications  and regulations; Computer literate and highly proficient with all software programs generally applied in project management;
    • Good interpersonal relations to communicate with clients and contractors to effect satisfactory working relationships;
    • Good communication and presentation skills, both verbally and in writing, to support effective communication with clients and contractors;
    • Able to understand, transmit and follow written and verbal instructions;
    • Able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner; and
    • Extensive experience in:
      • Dispute management
      • Rebutting statements of claim;
      • Contract administration; and
      • Auditing. 

    Deliverables

    • Direct the Contract Management activities of project team members in the execution of projects;
    • Referrals and rebuttals as required for disputes;  
    • Audit reports;
    • Minutes of meetings as required;
    • Expert knowledge and advice

    Qualifications

    • Professionally qualified in RICS, LLB, PMP, MSc. Construction Law or similar
    • Experienced in working in multiple contract environments and under a range of procurement routes
    • Knowledgeable in collaborative working practices
    • Confident, approachable and patient delivery style
    • Competent to present alone and to work as part of a senior training delivery team
    • Confident in managing multiple stakeholder requirements
    • Able to prepare, define and lead on training proposals, and work closely alongside Senior Management and the wider Turner & Townsend team
