    Contractor – Organisational Capability, Learning and Development Advisor

    Work with the Head of Human Resources and Learning & Development to ensure all L&D policies, procedures and processes are up to date.

    Development learning activities. Organise and coordinate both in-house and offsite staff training and development programs to meet identified development needs. Support others' desires to learn and grow, making a way for organizational learning to happen within an office or professional engagement. Assess the success of employee’s development plans and help employees make the most of learning opportunities. Assist and coach line managers in solving specific training problems for staff up to supervisory level in partnership with the HR Advisor (Operations). Manage the annual training calendar.

    This is a 12 month contract.

    Roles & Responsibilities (but not limited to)

    • Support the OC, L & D Manager to manage training budget and ensure training activities are in line with the training budget. 
    • Lead on L&D projects and initiatives ensuring that implementation is achieved on time and in budget.
    • Show commercial return on investment made through the learning and development strategy in line with other strategic and legislative requirements.
    • Develop and monitor service level agreements with external and internal training resources
    • Liaise with outsourced training providers to manage delivery of training courses. 
    • Serve as central point of contact for L&D from all BU’s outside of the Refinery – this includes partnering with other HR team members (especially HR Business Partners and HR Operations).  Advise EXCO, Line Managers and employees regarding L&D programmes, guiding them to what is relevant to ensure the right learning solutions are implemented.
    • Support OC, L & D Manager with organisational change initiatives that drive organisation effectiveness.
    • Project manage the organisation-wide roll-out of the graduate programme and learnerships.  Implement continued development and embedding into the culture.
    • Provide administration support for functions which includes sourcing training solutions, sourcing & managing training providers, overseeing training, tracking, and recording.   
    • Work with the Head of L&D to select and implement a new learning management system (LMS), including managing the transfer of existing learning resources and training from the current system. Be the system superuser, managing users, workflows, and functionality, working with the HR Operations team on the integration with the HR information system (HRIS)
    • Provide high quality analysis and reporting support to L&D Manager
    • Support the OC, L& D Manager and Talent Manager to develop competencies and skills matrix.
    • Conduct and support the L&D Manager in the collation of learning needs across the organization needs and provide advice and training options to managers and staff
    • Support the achievement of Transformation targets for HR & act as custodian for the Transformation agenda for AE
    • Demonstrate good leadership behaviours; includes adopting a coaching approach with colleagues to help build skills, confidence, and capability in particular areas, processes or procedures.

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management, Industrial Psychology or equivalent is an advantage
    • National Certificate: ODETDP – NQF Level 4 or 5 (Occupationally-Directed Education Training Development Practices)

    Work Experience:

    • 5-8 years’ experience working in a learning and development environment
    • Experience in facilitating group events and training Experience with designing blended learning programmes and Leadership programmes
    • Experience in leading and managing organisational change
    • Experience with managing a successful Graduate programme
    • Experience in implementing, working on an LMS and managing projects

    Knowledge and skills:

    • BBBEE legislation, implementation, and reporting
    • Effective verbal communication and presentation skills.
    • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to advise on appropriate learning solutions to meet organisational and individual needs.
    • Effective computer skills and acumen
    • Effective written communication skills and ability to develop learning and development materials.
    • Ability to deal with difficult and sensitive situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.
