  • The mission of the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management is to provide effective coordination of crime prevention initiatives, provincial police oversight, traffic management and road safety towards a more secure environment.


     

    Control Provincial Inspector-Weighbridge

    REQUIREMENTS :

    • A Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent and relevant tertiary qualification three (3) year Diploma /Degree. Basic Traffic Diploma. Seven (7) to Ten (10) years’ experience working experience in the field in Traffic Law Enforcement or equivalent. Three (3) to Five (5) years management experience. Valid Driving License at least a code B. No Criminal record.
    • Knowledge: Knowledge of Public Service Prescripts. Manage the implementation of Public Transport and Traffic Law Enforcement policies and regulations. Driver fitness inspections. Vehicle fitness inspections. Completion of Law Enforcement documents. Operator fitness inspections. Investigations. Working knowledge of applicable legislations –Public transport and traffic environment. Knowledge of Performance Management Development System.
    • Skills: Records management. Resource management. Customer relationship management. Performance management. Finance management. Conflict management. Projects management. Projects management. Self –management. Time management. Risk management. Change management. Public information management. Planning and organizing. Report writing. Verbal and written communication skill. Computer literacy. Teamwork. 

    DUTIES :

    • Provide effective and efficient leadership. Evaluate the activities of the District Operational plans to ensure strategic alignment with the strategic plan, budget statements and National and Provincial Strategies.
    • Create and facilitate an enabling environment between Provincial and Local Government in respect of Traffic Law Enforcement and ensure alignment across these spheres.
    • Co-ordinate the collection and analysis of district law enforcement statistics, conduct research, formulate policy and develop new strategies and models to improve service delivery. Provide strategic leadership and mentoring to district role players regarding strategies, developments and trends.
    • Manage and co-ordinate human resource processes in the district. Manage and co-ordinate the budget process and utilisation of facilities, vehicles and equipment of the district.
