Controller Room Operator (Randfontein) at Afrimat

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

• Diploma in a technical field preferably Chemical or metallurgy
• 2 years’ experience
• Have own vehicle and driver’s license
• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations
• Good technical knowledge especially in a cement field
• Hands on experience
• Energetic – ability to work in shifts
• Reliable
• Precise and rigorous

Performance Criteria

• To produce cement at the lowest cost with maximum output
• Produces cement within set parameters in order to maintain quality
• Avoids violent variations of feed or fuel
• Maintains steady and consistent operation in the cement to maintain good quality
• Prevents cement mill blockages to avoid production loss

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Accepts responsibility for the quality and quantity of clinker being produced
• Stops and starts the cement mill according to work instructions or instructions from Shift Foreman
• Reacts on alarm conditions by taking appropriate actions
• Determines whether problems that arose during the previous shift are being dealt with adequately
• Records all settings and results in the logbook and logsheets
• Maintains all silo levels by constantly checking control screens and extract material when required
• Participates in the department’s housekeeping
• Attends safety meetings
• Performs any other reasonable tasks when requested by the Supervisor
• Adhere to the group’s health and safety rules
• Understand and comply to the group’s health and safety standards
• Ensures the safety of laboratory equipment
• Participate in all health and safety campaigns
