Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Customer Insights Manager at I&J, Head Office, Woodstock, Cape Town. The purpose of this role is the management of the sourcing, processing and analysis of I&J’s available category and retailer EPOS and basket data in combination with I&J’s own Internal data, in order to facilitate the extraction of key insights to grow our categories and brands and inform strategic direction for the Domestic business through fact-based market, category, shopper and competitor insights whilst taking into account impacts on own profitability.

Job Specification:
Key Performance Areas:
Managing key EPOS data partners / suppliers and any other suppliers of data used within the business (e.g. BMi, Spar Insights, etc.)
Managing of data analysis to identify opportunities for growth by analysing EPOS Data, Shopper Data & I&J internal data and scoping of future opportunities
Insights/data to support Forecasting/Demand planning by aligning ROS and promotional uplift data against promotional grid
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum of 4 – 5 years’ experience in a Data analyst/ BI intelligence related field within a data agency, trade marketing, sales or marketing department
Proven ability to extract database information from IRi Temple and/or Tableau Software packages
4 – 5 years’ experience with an insights / data agency will be advantageous
FMCG or retail experience highly advantageous
Qualifications:
BCom. degree in Marketing, Business Management, Economics, Management Sciences, Statistics, Financial Management, Industrial Psychology or Enterprise Management
Additional Requirements:
Ability to interpret market, trade, retailer, shopper, category and consumer data and trends
Ability to understand category and brand strategies, in order to facilitate action orientated and value-add analysis
Ability to analyse market data and financials (e.g. retail sales, basket data, market sizing, pricing analysis and opportunity analysis)
Proficiency with 3rd Party Data Packages such as IRi Temple, Dunnhumby and PnP Smart Shopper
Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint
Proficiency in using BI
Understanding of hard data set-up, data hierarchies and quality control procedures relating to EPOS / Basket data
