    D&A Data Analyst - DPP Audit & Assurance (Central Analytics Team)

    Description of the role and purpose of the job:

    • To primarily support D&A in the audit and be part of the team that successfully deploys KPMGs new workflow and capabilities across the Southern Africa audit practice.
    • This position can be filled through a permanent internal transfer from Audit / KDA, or an external appointment.

    Key responsibilities:

    Perform D&A using appropriate tools within the Central Analytics Team based on the D&A scope and data source.

    Prepare documentation of D&A work performed and deliverables for use by audit teams.

    Work with audit teams and clients to:

    • extract and cleanse data from a variety of ERP systems
    • review data quality and check its completeness and accuracy
    • analyse and interpret the results of analytic routines to derive key insights for communication back to audit teams.
       

    Establish strong relationships with audit teams and be able to communicate frequently and consistently.

    Manage the needs of multiple stakeholders:

    • ensuring deadlines are met and keeping audit teams and the Central Analytics Team leads updated;
    • reacting quickly to any issues; and
    • dealing with multiple audit teams concurrently.
       

    Maintain a high standard of quality at all times.
    Skills and attributes required for the role:

    • Knowledge of external audit and hold (or be working towards) a related qualification (or international equivalent) would be beneficial.
    • At least 1 year’s recent experience in working on audit engagements. 
    • Keen interest in technology and data.
    • Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
    • Knowledge of IDEA, eAudIT and KPMG Clara.
    • Experience with visualisation tools e.g., PowerBI, Qlikview.
    • Logical mind set and curiosity for exploring data to understand content and how it can be used within the audit.
    • Understand the benefits of using D&A in an audit and how data driven audit procedures can be used to drive quality and efficiency.
    • Able to cope under pressure.
    • Communication skills are critical.
       

    Minimum requirements to apply for the role (including qualifications and experience):

    • Advanced Excel or IDEA.
    • Programming skills (note these tools are not what the team will be using but knowledge of a programming language would be beneficial for learning new skills).
    • A statistical or IT background would be beneficial, but not essential.
