    Occupational Health and Safety Officer (OHS Officer) (2 positions available)

    Job Profile:
    The Health and Safety Department seeks to appoint an OHS Officer to implement and monitor the execution of the Health and Safety Business Strategy plan at the Provincial level to ensure compliance with the organisational and legislative requirements.

    Reports to: HOD: OHS Manager

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Ensure that the OHS management system is implemented, communicated, and understood.
    • Ensure that all company operations and activities comply with OHS policies, procedures, and risk management standards.
    • Conduct basic hazard identification and risk assessment of any new operational activities.
    • Conduct Health and Safety training and monitor the OHS communications exercises with teams at the bases.
    • Ensure all legal appointments are in place and valid as required per legislation and standard.
    • Schedule and conduct OHS inspections and audits and compile/submit reports with recommendations.
    • Report on all relevant safety, health and environmental related incidents and accidents.
    • Co-ordinate and execute all requisite incident investigations for major/minor incidents and submit reports with recommendations and ensure that the implementation of the required recommendations is implemented and closed out.
    • Ensure that Health and Safety Committees are formed, and the relevant meetings are held at all the Bases under your watch.
    • Coordinate and participate in provincial OHSE meetings and facilitate reports on pertinent issues.
    • Ensure effective and proper administration of FEM COIDA claims for all Injury on Duty cases.
    • Coordinate and ensure compliance to COVID-19 legislation and policies.
    • Source and regularly update, and then communicate changes to OHS legislative/industry requirements to our employees.
    • Continually provide advice and support to line management on the implementation and monitoring of OHS programmes, policies, and procedures.
    • Process data, maintain and regularly update the OHS database, and submit weekly and monthly reports on OHS status.

    Job Requirements:

    • 3-year National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent qualifications.
    • SAMTRAC/SHEMTRAC certificate.
    • ISO 45001 certificate/s.
    • Behavioural Based Safety Principles/Exposure
    • At least 3+ years’ experience as an OHS Officer in a professional environment.
    • ISO 45001 experience/exposure will be an added advantage.
    • A valid Driver’s license and be able to travel away from home frequently.
    • Good working knowledge of Ms Office and Google workspace.

    Skills:

    • Good managerial, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Able to work under pressure, long and after hours.
    • Be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

    Social Development Practitioners (3 positions available)

    Job Profile:
    Working on Fire (Pty) Ltd seeks to appoint a Social Development Practitioner to provide efficient and effective development support services to Working on Fire.

    Reports to: HOD: Social Development

    Key Performance Areas:
    Weighting

    • Journey Management 40%
    • Entrepreneurship Development 20%
    • Counselling and Referrals 15%
    • Community Outreach 10%
    • Planning and
    • Budgeting 10%
    • Reporting 5%

    Generic employee counselling, social development administration, Provincial social development support, trauma and bereavement counselling and support, social development publication and education & therapeutic workshops, community outreach, financial, people, and stakeholder management.

    Job Requirements:

    • Degree in Social Work or Degree/Qualification in Development with a Counselling qualification.
    • At least 4 – 5 years’ relevant experience and must be registered with South African Council for Social Services Professions or other professional council.
    • Emotionally Intelligence and maturity
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel.
    • Must have own cell phone.
    • Computer literate in MS Office packages

    Skills:
    Ability to meet deadlines, meticulous with report writing, vast attention to details, be able to deal with people at all levels, excellent presentation skills, excellent written and strong communication skills, strong counselling techniques, good planning and prioritising of tasks, and must be able to work under pressure and long hours.
