Data Analyst Internship Programme at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of bachelor of science (NQF 7) in Statistics; (attach transcript)
• New entrants into the Statistics environment (in other words, applicants must not have previously worked or held a Statistics internship position)
• Knowledge of statistical software such as EVIEWS, SPSS, SAS, STATA, R or Python will be an added advantage
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders
• Must be a South African citizen

DUTIES

• Assist with extracting Institutional data from various information systems using SQL and other approved data extracting tools
• Assist with collecting, compiling and organizing Institutional datasets for research and reporting purposes
• Perform data cleaning, validation and data wrangling to improve data quality and consistency
• Prepare datasets for statistical analysis and dashboard development
• Maintain accurate and organized project datasets and supporting development
• Perform descriptive statistical analyses using software such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, R or Python
• Assist with exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns and relationships
• Develop tables, charts and graphs to communicate analytical findings
• Support predictive and descriptive analytics projects under supervision
• Assist with Interpreting analytical results for Institutional research and reporting
• Provide support on Institutional research and data analytics projects
• Participate in departmental meetings, workshops and training activities
• Maintain project documentation, datasets and analytical records
• Assist with project coordination and administrative activities
• Perform any other duties related to Academic research, data analytics and reporting as assigned by the supervisor
