Main purpose of the job:

• Implementing routine data management activities, developing databases and to provide insight into datasets and the visualization thereof.

Key performance areas

• Meet relevant stakeholders for planning and identifying database requirements.
• Setup functional databases for deployment on operational, observational, and clinical projects.
• Testing and ensuring that databases are set up correctly – including variable validation, skip patterns etc.
• Train users on databases at the start of the project and when required.
• Identify users and grant access levels accordingly before the start of the project and when required.
• Implement updates and amendments on databases and re-test to ensure efficient and correct operation
• thereof.
• Write query code to identify issues within datasets and ensure the ability to rerun them routinely (automation).
• Send query reports to project teams and ensure these queries are resolved timeously.
• Sending routine reports to project managers.
• Drafting summaries on datasets for project managers.
• Create data visualization tools to create insights on datasets.
• Presenting data insights and methodologies to stakeholders or at conferences.
• Process randomization requests on projects.
• Configuring and managing follow-up trackers / reminders for projects.
• Retrieval and consolidation of electronic medical imagery, audio and metadata collected throughout
• projects including the standardised labelling and storage thereof.
• Involved in planning and setting up of projects that use IoT, wearables, image and sound analyses, etc.
• Assist with any ad hoc data management related work.

Required minimum education and training

• Matric (Diploma or above in a data-related field will be advantageous).

Required minimum work experience

• One year of data management experience.
• REDCap database building (advanced).
• Advanced Excel usage (complex formula coding, reporting and problem solving).
• STATA / SAS / R / Python dataset programming.

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities

• Programming (Python, VBA, SQL etc.).
• Data visualization packages (PowerBI, Tableau etc.).
• Innovative, solution driven and proven problem-solving abilities.
• Exposure with IoT projects (RaspberryPi, Arduino, low voltage electronics) and or medical warbles.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Ability to be adaptable and flexible.
