Data Scientist at Epiroc

Mission

• To form part of a growing team that specializes in software development and the adaptation of proprietary application platforms in-line with customer specific requirements.
• There will be opportunity to participate in core research and development projects on mobile platforms.

Main Responsibilities

• Work with local adaptations of the control system functionality including programming and testing. Feedback new requirements on the system based on the experiences in field.
• Support the ongoing automation projects in the South African market.
• Handle upgrades and do troubleshooting on existing installations.
• Feedback product experience to the product company in Sweden.
• Offer support to product specialist when it comes to advanced software and communication functions and integrations.
• Design and implement customer specific business intelligence tools.

Education and Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science
• 3-4 years prior work experience with electronic and software design.

Experience using the following software:

• C/C++ , Linux – mandatory
• Python - Beneficial
• Android - Beneficial
• HTML5 - Beneficial
• Android - Beneficial
• Java and/or C# - Beneficial
• Systems integration experience
• Advanced SQL skills,
• Experience with multiple reporting suites,

Key competencies

• Self-starter and team player
• Good communication skills internally and externally and willing to develop strong relations with the Development Center in Sweden
• The ability to communicate technical concepts in clear and concise manner. Basic understanding of network protocol such as TCP/IP
