KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the design, development and deployment of scalable, production-grade ML models and data products within a cloud environment
Analyse model output and complex datasets to uncover insights and trends that inform business decisions and drive growth
Design and execute controlled experiments to test new strategies, providing statistically sound recommendations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement models
Communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders and decision makers in a clear and concise manner
Drive innovation by identifying new opportunities, data sources and methodologies for improved solutions
Guide, mentor and upskill junior data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence
Define and enforce best practices for code quality, version control, model validation and MLOps deployment pipelines
Requirements
Honours in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research or a highly quantitative field (Master’s degree advantageous)
Minimum of 5 years experience in data science, with at least 2 years in a dedicated senior role
Retail, Customer or Marketing experience is highly advantageous
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
A good understanding of code repositories, git and CI/CD
Experience with machine learning algorithms (regression, classification, clustering, etc.)
Experience with statistical analysis and hypothesis testing
Experience with cloud platforms (preferably GCP)
Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g. Data Studio or Power BI)
Experience with model productionisation and model tracking
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and presentation abilities to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to tackle ambiguous business problems
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
A self-driven team player who is results driven, assumes ownership of the given task and is committed to excellence
Intellectual curiosity and a passion for exploring new data sources and methodologies
Adaptability and willingness to learn new techniques and tools as needed
