    Data Transformation Analyst - Cape Town

    The Team:

    • The Strategy & Growth team is focused on supporting the evolution of the Investor Relations, Broker Research, and Sustainability organization at S&P Global. The team works across businesses creating efficiencies, new opportunities, and strategic plans. The team offers a unique opportunity to leverage technical and communication skills while gaining insight into multiple facets of the business unit.

    Responsibilities:

    • You are responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving Investor Relations, Broker Research, and Sustainability reports, tools, and workflows. The role reports to the Executive Director of Innovation and Operations within Strategy & Growth and will work closely with the team to align projects to key initiatives and goals. You will also work directly with analysts across the business to understand needs for enhancements and innovation.
    • You will leverage data, analytics, and technologies to help generate insights and inform decision-making. Together with the Strategy & Growth team, this role will help Investor Relations, Broker Research, and Sustainability teams transform their business by architecting organizational intelligence programs and differentiated strategies to win in their chosen markets. Integrating new S&P datasets into existing and future reports, tools, and workflows will be a primary focus for the data transformation analyst as well. This role will also serve as a key resource for expanding the knowledge and use of new technologies (in particular Python) across the broader Investor Relations, Broker Research, and Sustainability organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design, create, and deliver new reports across Investor Relations, Broker Research, and Sustainability that provide efficiency, branding, and client value for advisory services
    • Serve as a champion of Python learning and growth
    • Maintain and support existing workflows and tools across the analyst user base
    • Work closely with analysts and team leads to identify and understand areas of inefficiency that require new solutions
    • Partner closely with Strategy & Growth team members on Investor Relations, Broker Research, and Sustainability synergy opportunities
    • Proactively researches, reviews, and analyzes existing processes to develop enhancements and improvements for on-going process improvement initiatives
    • Leverage automation, cognitive and science-based techniques to better manage advisory data infrastructure and prescribe actions
    • Drive operational efficiency by maintaining their data ecosystems, sourcing analytics expertise, and providing As-a-Service offerings for continuous insights and improvements
    • Identify opportunities to leverage new technologies and tools

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Relevant degree or demonstrated equivalent work experience
    • Proficiency in Python is required
    • Proficiency in VBA and SQL would be advantageous
    • Prior Alteryx exposure would be advantageous
    • Excellent verbal and written command of the English language (additional languages advantageous)
    • GitHub knowledge – release-based workflows, GitHub actions. CI/CD
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to lead
    • Must be able to work well under pressure and be flexible and adaptive to changes in a fast-paced working environment
    • Self-motivated, takes initiative and enjoys new challenges and solving problems
