    Data Visualisation Specialist

    Job purpose

    As a Data Visualisation Specialist you will be responsible for developing, building, and maintaining dashboards for our clients and internal stakeholders. We are looking for a candidate who is both creative and numerate, and who is ready to progress in career in a fast-growing field. You’ll have previous experience working in a similar role but be looking to take a step up in responsibility and ownership over the reports and dashboards you put out and the products you develop.

    You will work with data from various digital marketing platforms such us Google DCM, Adwords, Google Analytics, Facebook, Twitter, and be the expert in the agency on data visualisation platforms, particularly Tableau but ideally also Google Data Studio and PowerBI.

    The job will also involve working with SQL and various database systems particularly Google Cloud Big Query and Microsoft Azure SQL managed databases. Finally, we’re looking for someone who understands the basics of various ETL practices, particularly how various commercial ETL tools work and how to set them up (Stitch Data, Funnel.io, Supermetrics etc.).

    You’ll report to the Head of Data & Audience Insights and work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders across the business and on occasion directly with our clients. We encourage all our people to come into the office but there are no rules – most UK people are in 1-3 days per week.

    Key responsibilities

    • Data visualisation – Concept, create, develop and maintain the agencies suite of standard client reports, contributing to an exciting Data Insights product roadmap with new ideas and by delivering the dashboard components of that roadmap
    • Dashboard customisation – Work with staff and with clients to create new dashboards and customise existing dashes in response to client requests
    • Knowledge sharing – Set and promote data visualisation standards and best practices across the company, and deliver training as required to staff and clients to enable them to fluently use our dashboards and make simple customization without needing input from the data team
    • Data pipelines – Help to build and maintain complex data pipelines using off the shelf and custom-built connectors
    • Data wrangling/cleaning – Retrieval and collection of open and closed data sources, including data processing, cleansing and verification to help power our bespoke reporting platforms and client specific projects (SQL)

    Skills & experience we’re looking for

    Essential:

    • Strong Tableau skills and experience
    • Experienced and confident in liaising with both technical and business focused stakeholders and understanding business/user requirements to translate them into dashboards
    • A designer’s eye for layout, colour, white space and other UI considerations
    • Demonstrable understanding of the most appropriate type of visualisation for different types of data
    • Working knowledge of SQL

    Preferred, but not necessary:

    • Familiarity and experience with Google Data Studio and PowerBI in addition to Tableau
    • Familiarity and experience with ETL practices and off the shelf tools
    • Familiarity with the practice and data associated with digital marketing channels such as SEO, PPC, social media & programmatic display
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or equivalent quantitative discipline, and/or design/UI related subjects
    • Fluent in R and/or Python
    • Experience with working in a project environment, including requirements gathering with business users and testing and deployment cycles
