Debtors Manager at Pepkor Lifestyle

Introduction

• Pepkor Lifestyle is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Debtors Manager to join our dynamic Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and controlling key debtors and banking processes, ensuring accurate reconciliations, effective financial controls and timely processing of transactions.
• This role will also provide support to the Financial Manager, oversee month-end activities, resolve banking and customer-related queries, and manage the day-to-day performance of the team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Controls & Reconciliations

• Control, manage and execute overs and unders.
• Control and reconcile cash sale clearing reconciliations.
• Control and reconcile balance sheet reconciliations
• Confirm and clear daily EFT transactions.
• Administer the bank charges journal.
• Maintain effective housekeeping and financial controls.

Month-End & Financial Processing

• Process month-end journals.
• Process refunds and resolve banking/customer-related issues.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.

Management & Support

• Assist the Financial Manager with relevant financial and operational requirements.
• Manage, guide and monitor the performance of the team.
• Ensure adherence to relevant processes, controls and deadlines.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in a debtors, banking, accounts receivable or financial accounting environment, preferably within a retail environment.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and accounting processes.
• Experience in managing month-end processes and financial journals.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to identify, investigate and resolve financial discrepancies and banking-related queries.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in supervising or managing a team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Grade 12.
• Relevant qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or a related field.
• 3–5 years' experience in Accounting, Debtors, Banking or a related financial environment.
• Previous retail experience is required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience working on accounting/ERP systems. SAP experience is advantageous.
