To lead, strategically manage and co-ordinate one of the uniform branches within the Safety and Security directorate by driving service delivery through the implementation of strategies, policies and plans aligned with National, Provincial and Local legislative requirements..
A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Policing or a degree in Traffic Safety Management or equivalent
Minimum of 8 years extensive managerial experience in a Policing,
Traffic and/or Law Enforcement environment
A valid Code B driver’s licence
Thorough understanding of managerial and public administration processes and principles
Metro Police: Registered as a member of a Municipal Police Service as per Regulation 11 of the South African Police Services Amendment Act, 1995 (Act No. 68 of 1995)
Law Enforcement: Registered as a member of a Municipal Police Service as per Regulation 11 of the South African Police Services Amendment Act, 1995 (Act No. 68 of 1995) or must achieve such within 18 months after appointment
Traffic Services: Registered as a Traffic Officer as well as a member of a Municipal Police Service as per Regulation 11 of the South African Police Services Amendment Act, 1995 (Act No. 68 of 1995) or must achieve such within 18 months after appointment.
Key Performance Areas
Manage, lead, co-ordinate and monitor policing operations within the City of Cape Town Lead and direct the development, implementation and management of strategies, policies, training and procedures of the Department
Direct, control and manage the key performance indicators of staff
Manage, monitor and control the operating and capital budgets of the Department as well as manage and control assets, theft and loss within the Department
Direct the implementation of procedures, systems and controls embodied in the Departmental Business Plan
Manage training and skills development and the transfer of skills and knowledge within the Department.
The job is performed at the rank of Deputy Chief on a rotational basis, between the uniform branches of the directorate, as operationally directed and deployed by the relevant delegated authority.
