Deputy Director- Food Safety Compliance and Standards (12 Months Contract)
Grade 12 plus 4-year Degree/BSc (NQF 8) in Agriculture/ Agricultural Science/ Agro-processing / Food science as recognised by SAQA.
3-5 years’ relevant experience, of which 3 years must be at an Assistant Director level in Agriculture. Valid driver’s license.
Duties :
Contribute to the implementation of the Gauteng Agroprocessing Strategy through ensuring implementation of a focused program on food safety and compliance to new and existing Agroprocessing SME enterprises in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders. Obtain, evaluate and disseminate information on international trends to local industries to keep them informed of new trends/ requirements.
Work with National and contribute to the management and maintenance of databases and information related adherence to various food safety standards including HACCP certification, Maximum residue limits (MRL), etc Collaborate with relevant stakeholders during audits of the SA's Regulatory Control system.
Develop relevant policies and/or guidelines on the interpretation of the relevant Acts and its subordinate legislation and ensure implementation thereof by all relevant provincial stakeholders. Ensure that the provincial Agroprocessing program implements food safety standards in line with National and International Food safety and quality requirements.
Facilitate food safety awareness campaigns in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the province. Manage the human resource development of employees in the directorate.
