Deputy Director: Forestry Transfer at Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment

Requirements & Qualifications

• National Diploma (NQF6) in Forestry or equivalent qualification within the related field as recognised by SAQA. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Forestry or related field of which three (3) years should be at an entry/junior managerial level (Assistant Director level or equivalent).
• A valid driving license and willing to travel. All shortlisted candidates, including SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One must be a practical exercise, and the other must be an Integrity (Ethical Conduct) Assessment.

Duties

• Develop and review state forest transfer models, frameworks, guidelines and tools. Facilitate the implementation of the forest transfer framework. Facilitate post settlement support in terms of the transfer of state forest. Identify key stakeholders on the transfer agreement. Mobilise funding on behalf of beneficiaries
• Develop and negotiate the conclusion of forest transfer agreements. Consult internal and external stakeholders in terms of transfer matters. Obtain legal opinion on the transfer agreement. Develop frameworks and guidelines for post settlement support.
