Design Engineer: Civil(Dams) at GIBB Engineering and Architecture

Key Performance Areas:

• Design and Development: Create detailed designs and plans for dams, reservoirs, and hydropower plants, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Site Assessment: Evaluate potential sites for hydropower projects, considering geological, hydrological, and environmental factors.
• Developing construction project specifications and designs based on customer requirements and design standards.
• Using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to create and refine construction project designs. Creating 3D models and animations using CAD and BIM software.
• Conducting feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to determine the viability of new designs and construction techniques.
• Developing and maintaining project documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and reports. Prepare and present technical reports, design ideas, and project updates to clients and stakeholders.
• Ensuring that construction projects meet regulatory requirements and adhere to safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.
• Collaborating with other engineering disciplines, architects, contractors and other construction professionals to ensure that designs are feasible and meet project requirements.
• Collaborating with project managers and contractors to ensure that construction projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost savings and making recommendations to senior management.
• Conducting regular project team meetings and providing guidance and support to team members.
• Ensuring that all project stakeholders are kept informed of project progress and any changes to the project plan.

Job Requirements:

Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• ECSA PrEng

Experience:

• At least 10 years experience
• Strong technical background in engineering
• Excellent design skills
• Proficient in using CAD and Civil 3D software and other engineering tools
• Knowledge of construction processes and standards, as well as experience with project management
