    Digital Consumer Education Coordinator Consumer Education Department (Pretoria)

    Purpose of the Job:

    • To coordinate and support the implementation of the FSCA’s consumer financial education initiatives, with a strong focus on digital financial literacy and education as well as the management of programme related online platforms. The role includes research and the analysis and interpretation of online trends into actionable insights. The person appointed to this position will report to the Manager: Consumer Education Department.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Develop, review and update financial education content for the CED’s online platforms, ensuring alignment with CED’s mandate and changing legislation. 
    • Maintain and continuously improve the FSCA’s Interactive Consumer Financial Education Website, ensuring that content is educational, accurate, and accessible to diverse financial customers. 
    • Apply instructional design principles, digital learning methods, and user friendly design when creating financial education materials.
    • Ensure digital content is technically sound, accessible, and compliant with FSCA standards.
    • Conduct research on emerging risks and trends affecting financial consumers and their sentiments and translate findings into consumer friendly educational content. 
    • Lead the development of digital fraud awareness, online safety, and cyber risk literacy materials for consumers and integrate digital safety themes into all CED programmes, campaigns, and digital learning initiatives.
    • Perform high quality administrative tasks related to programme coordination, reporting, scheduling, document control, reporting and stakeholder communication.
    • Support the Manager and Departmental Head in strengthening relationships with consumers and stakeholders before, during and after CFE events through visible, actionable and timeous engagement strategies.
    • Maintain positive and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including ICT, Communications & Languages unit, data teams, government partners, community organisations, and industry service providers. 

    Other Key Competencies:

    • The candidate must demonstrate the following skills and attributes: Understanding of adult learning principles, digital pedagogy, and  financial education topics (budgeting, savings, debt, scams, fraud and online harm, insurance, pensions, customer rights and responsibilities and recourse mechanisms). Knowledge of education methodology, current industry-specific technologies and online learning. Strong research, analytical, organisational, and project management skills. Proficiency in digital publishing software and digital learning tools. Ability to translate complex financial concepts into accessible digital educational content. Strong communications, written and verbal. Ability to work within a team and take initiative. 

    Requirements

    • A Bachelor’s degree / diploma in Public Relations and Digital Media, Communication Science or equivalent, with at least 2-3 years’ experience in the financial services industry, digital financial literacy education or e-learning, instructional design and desktop publishing. Knowledge of learning management systems such as SharePoint and graphic design experience will be an advantage.
