    Digital Forensic Specialist

    Job Purpose 

    Provides investigative functions to the business. Supports fraud prevention, detention and remediation.

    Key Performance Areas

    Digital Investigations

    • Perform investigations in line with defined methodology
    • Collect, review/analyse data to determine events

    Horizon Scanning

    • Maintain deep understanding of current technology, fraud management, forensic methodologies and future trends through ongoing education, conference attendance and industry press

    Faults Diagnosis and Correction

    • Provide fault isolation in controls and resolution for complex challenges to limit and address fraud promptly

    Documentation and Back up

    • Create and maintain technical and/or user documentation to a high standard and back up files to ensure instant recovery if problems occur.

    Operational Compliance

    • Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards 
    • Identify, within the team, patterns of non-compliance with the organization's policies and procedures, and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate

    Procedure Development & Implementation

    • Design, review and maintain Fraud Risk related policies, processes and methodologies

    Evidence/Data Collection & Analysis

    • Collate and analyze data using pre-set tools, methods and formats. Involves working independently

    • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential

    Experience

    General Experience

    • Knowledge of commercial crime investigations
    • Experience with Forensic Tools
    • Experience with collecting and analysing data/evidence (5 years)
    • Sound understanding of organised crime and syndicates
    • Knowledge of laws relating to criminal procedure and evidence

    Managerial Experience

    • Experience of planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives as specified by more senior managers (Over 3 years to 6 years)

    Minimum qualifications

    • Matric
    • University (First degree)
    • Deep understanding of current Forensic methodologies and trends.
