    Digital Marketing Manager | Fundraising department

    Purpose

    The Fundraising Digital Manager’s primary responsibility is to develop digital marketing and fundraising strategies for MSF SA and advises as to the best way to implement online campaigns utilising available or effective resources and technologies. The role also has oversight on all digital fundraising activities and projects across the fundraising department and manages the allocation of resources to achieve departmental objectives.

    Reporting Structure

    The Fundraising Digital Manager reports to the Donor Acquisitions Manager. The position facilitates engagements with other digital teams, not only in the fundraising unit but across other departments within Southern Africa. This may include departments such as communications, advocacy, recruitment, and association departments.

    Accountabilities

    • Supporting the Donor Acquisitions Manager in executing donor acquisition and/or related marketing campaigns.

    Supporting other Fundraising managers with planned activities and digital requirements/objectives as per their individual annual plans, including:

    • The development of donor communication and source content: e-newsletters, and other loyalty campaigns.
    • Regularly report back on the effectiveness and efficiency of the retention program from a digital point of view.
    • Inform strategies to optimize the user experience and best-on-best practices.
    • Provide expert recommendations on digital ambitions within the fundraising team, to ensure alignment with resources, skills, technologies, budgets, and MSF compliance requirements.
    • Coordinating digital fundraising teams and managing projects, campaigns, and activities accordingly to deadlines, budget, and resources available.
    • Supporting other MSF departments in transversal projects or activities, and ensuring a fundraising-first mindset for the adoption of fundraising opportunities with organization-wide activities.
    • Foster diversification of digital marketing channels and innovation through networking, industry research, and other research or analysis, and ensuring feedback to the team for decision-making.
    • Implement workflows across the team for the management of, review, and optimisation of key operational procedures.
    • Lead the development of digital fundraising strategies and conduct their management and execution in accordance with the annual plan and within the deadlines established in the schedule, focusing on fundraising goals; in coordination with the Digital Fundraising Specialist, Digital Campaign Officer, and Digital Fundraising Intern.

    Monitor and report on the effectiveness and efficiency of the digital performance and monitor functionality using qualitative and quantitative data in order to:

    • Ensure continued functionality.
    • Inform strategies to optimize the user experience.
    • Design improvements in campaign performance.
    • Identify opportunities and areas for improvement.
    • Design A/B testing opportunities.
    • Lead the creation and/or sourcing of online collateral for multichannel campaigns (incl. online forms and donation functionality). This may include developing briefings to work with internal and external creative teams/agencies.
    • Develop, Control, and oversee the budget related to digital fundraising actions, and develop actions in accordance with the available budget.
    • Manage the various agencies/service providers: develop project scope and coordinate “outsourced” projects.
    • Managing digital integrations between internal and external stakeholders.
    • Managing digital tools, technologies, and platforms.
    • Coordinating with advertising, media, web developers, content (graphics and copy) service providers, and internal teams on the performance of digital fundraising campaigns and activities.
    • People management including; evaluations, skill development, leave and general administration, and coordination with the HR unit at MSF Southern Africa.

    Knowledge Skills and Experience

    Essential:

    • Graduate degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related digital field.
    • 3- 5 years of professional experience in digital marketing (both at a strategic and practical implementation level).
    • At least 2 years experience in leading small digital marketing teams.
    • Advanced knowledge of tools and tactics to engage new and existing audiences through online marketing channels: search engine marketing, display and video marketing, email marketing, online content management, social network coordination content management, and testing.
    • Understanding of SEO strategies, tools, technologies, and best practices.
    • Understanding of UX best practices.
    • Understanding of customer relationship management and data-driven marketing techniques to drive donor retention and experience in creating customer-centric communication.
    • Working knowledge of key digital technologies and languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
    • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills and relevant high-level oral and written communication skills, including fundraising copy development.
    • Demonstrated data analysis skills, including digital tracking and analytics.
    • Demonstrated creativity and strategic thinking, with the ability to take initiative and the willingness to learn.
    • Ability to work flexible hours.
    • Working knowledge of the digital marketing funnel and lead cultivation strategies.
    • Working knowledge of PPC campaigns, and platforms – including advertising campaign management, billing, and account administration.
    • Strong work ethic.
    • Good networking.
    • Attention to detail.

    Desirable

    • Expertise in content marketing strategies.
    • Expertise in online payment systems and integrations.
    • Expertise in the automation of digital content through various CRM and digital advertising channels.
    • Self-starter with the willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest trends in South Africa and abroad and a learning mindset.
