    Director, Business Analysts

    Overview

    The primary objective of this role is to build, manage, grow, and lead a team of Software Business Analysts to produce high quality documentation regarding project and program requirements and to provide clear and effective communication to stakeholders, facilitators, and partners in order to enable implementation of WCS (Warehouse Control System) solutions in a cost-effective way.

    Responsibilities

    • Overseeing, planning, and leading WCS and related design sessions with Clients and vendor partners to elicit requirements, define scope, and define specifications for software and controls.
    • Following large Client projects from inception through delivery as the project requirements subject matter expert.
    • Leading and educating the Client’s leadership team on relevant technologies for DC designs.
    • Translating, analyzing, and simplifying requirements to align with standard Fortna WCS products and best practices.
    • Fostering and maintaining strong Client relationships during and post design engagements.
    • Providing relevant comparisons of WCS concepts with similar operational environments supported by Fortna WCS solutions.
    • Working with software project management by participating in project planning activities throughout the lifetime of the project.
    • Assisting software quality assurance and development teams with clarification of requirements and acceptance criteria.
    • Providing input to clarify development sprint requirements and feedback to development sprint output as requirements subject matter expert (Scrum process Product Owner).
    • Working closely with software quality assurance and development teams to ensure proposed design solutions align with current product and technical offerings or that design solutions can be supported by R&D roadmap.
    • Training others on problem solving approaches and design requirement gathering.
    • Demonstrating leadership by providing vision, direction, and guidance to team and by overseeing and delegating responsibilities to Associates.
    • Ensuring internal quality assurance and that analysis and methodologies are being followed.
    • Providing valuable input to R&D and WCS roadmap initiatives identified from Client engagements and feedback.
    • Maintaining high quality project and software design documentation and analysis.
    • Traveling to Client sites for design and review sessions and QA of project implementation.
    • Strengthening relationships between software, its departments, and leads with other Fortna practices, departments, and leads.
    • Developing software requirements for supplier RFPs.
    • Collaborating with Solutions Development & Project Engineering and Procurement & Purchasing to ensure software interaction for sub-system suppliers meets DOO (Description of Operations) requirements.
    • Coaching/mentoring and providing career development advice to staff.
    • Conducting Associate reviews.
    • Assisting staff to resolve complex or out of policy operation problems.
    • Managing staff levels based on current workload and future opportunities (resource planning).
    • Directing staff in the development, analysis, and preparation of reports.
    • Supervising staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, industrial engineering, or related technical field with 10+ years of industry experience with concentration in a combination of supply chain, distribution, warehouse management software (WMS) and WCS technologies, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including technical writing skills
    • Excellent client-facing skills
    • Exceptional understanding of systems engineering concepts related to distribution center software, controls, and implementation
    • Ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis
    • Strong experience in business case development, modeling techniques, and methods
    • Excellent leadership and team building skills
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of software development technologies, methodologies, and best practices
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of network design and implementation in a distribution center
    • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) experience
    • Team player who works well with technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem solving skills.
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally in the range of 10% of the time
    • Ability to perform essential functions of the job
    • Software development or quality assurance experience
    • Ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis
    • Experience with Agile methodologies
    • Knowledge and understanding of FortnaWES software technologies, methodologies, and best practices
