    Distribution Manager

    Position Summary

    • An opportunity currently exists for a Distribution Centre Manager to join Nestlé team in Longmeadow, Johannesburg. In this role, you will manage warehouse staff  to safely deliver optimum service level performance for the most cost effective outcome.

    A day in the life of...
    Influence Distribution Management and Customer Service in order to continuously improve service and cost through:

    • Regular communication that will keep customers and CS updated to manage proactively
    • Collaboration with Customers and other functional departments (customer service, transportation, factories) to ensure freshness and avoidance of bad goods

    Set adequate target values for warehousing service and cost KPIs and keep continuously tracked KPIs close to the target values by:

    • Ensuring a structured continuous improvement approach based on the application of Tools and the implementation of Best Practices
    • Implementing, monitoring and managing Safety, Health and Environment, Quality and CARE regulations and Best Practices
    • Managing the labor in the DC
    • Solving adequately any occurring issue in DC operations

    Ensure an adequate level of flexibility of structures and processes:

    • To meet ad-hoc customer requirements or to deal with unexpected Supply Chain disruptions - To adapt to changes in the logistics and/or market environment
    • Drive cost saving initiatives to improve performance and cost of the warehouse operation; also ensure the correct construction, control and management of the budget for warehousing (cost budget for warehousing and possible investment requirements)
    • Negotiate contracts as per Procure to Pay process and establish a sound relationship with the service providers including conflict management
    • Selection of the right people, constant engagement, motivation and management of the team
    • Ensure maintenance of the building, warehouse equipment and security
    • Assist Value Stream Design which will identify aras of improvement.Support and help LEAN roll out, ensuring that a continuous improvement culture is developed and sustained

    What will make you successful

    • 5 Years of operational warehouse management experience

    • Demand and Supply Planning
    • Sales
    • Transportation Management
    • Technical and production
    • Finance (Budgetting and Cost Allocation)
    • People management and leadership
    • Good understand of safety management systems & risk Assesment
    • Union stakeholder management
    • Good knowledge of NQMS
    • Warehouse Design
    • Distribution Network Design
    • Experience in lean tools and management is ideal
